Global Demands and Sustainability Future
We have reached an era that is more competitive than ever before with a fierce fight for attention in an increasingly cluttered landscape.
Moving ahead, we are poised to meet the rising demands of quality natural rubber with strategic growth and acquisitions. In addition to that, working together with our customers to meet the sustainable future is also a core part of a company’s mission, we have been trying to find ways to reduce the environmental impacts from the production processes, from transportation, from waste generation and so on.
Research & Innovation
Our research and development activities in Shanghai, Zhanjiang and in time to come, other parts of the world will provide evaluation and development facilities to Ensure that the quality of our natural rubber meets our customer’s expectations not only today but into the future as well.
Beyond being a supplier to our clients, we seek to partner with them to improve the quality and range of our natural rubber products. As such, our panels of experts are always on hand to provide support and solutions to technical issues faced in the use of our natural rubber.
Southland participated in EcoVadis’s evidence-based assessment of sustainability actions.
Such assessment allows us to focus our sustainability efforts
and develop corrective action plans to improve our sustainability performance.

Sustainable
Procurement
Southland uses “Rubberway” which is a risk-mapping solution developed to identify sustainability risks throughout the whole natural rubber upstream supply chain, known to be particularly complex and volatile.
RubberWay was designed to enhance transparency by empowering actors across the supply chain to report on their practices.
Based on responses to an environmental and social questionnaire carried out through a mobile app, RubberWay flags risks for mitigation, at each level of the upstream supply chain: smallholders, intermediaries, large plantations, and processing factories.
Continental Tyre
Southland Rubber is delighted to join a project with Continental Tires and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)’s project
where small farmers in West Kalimantan are trained to grow high quality materials in compliance with clearly defined sustainability criteria together with full traceability of the natural rubber supply chain.
Southland Rubber’s processing factory: PT Bintang Borneo Persada in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia, will continue to participate in CSR and farmer development and training in providing high quality natural rubber.
OUr goal
Global leader in natural rubber processing, our goal is to grow the supply of natural rubber that meets the quality and sustainability standards of our customers.
We will continue to be a reliable partner and supplier to global manufacturers of tyres and other rubber products.

TSR
Technically
Specified Rubber
TSR is “Technically Specified Rubber” sometimes referred to as Block Rubber or Crumb rubber. It can be produced from both natural rubber field latex and field coagulum (cuplump) or a blend of both.
TSR Rubbers are graded according to precise technical parameters such as content of Dirt, Ash, Nitrogen, Volatile Matter and its properties such as Wallace Plasticity (PO) and Plasticity Retention Index (PRI). It has good processing characteristics and physical properties. Southland Rubber factories are approved under the major national TSR schemes including Standard Thai Rubber (STR), Standard Indonesian Rubber (SIR), Standard Malaysian Rubber (SMR), Indian Standard Natural Rubber (ISNR) and Myanmar Standard Rubber (MSR). Sub-grades to these standards include Constant Viscosity rubbers and Mixture Rubbers made to customers’ requirement.
Mixture Rubber is processed by compounding TSR with SBR (Styrene-butadiene Rubber), with 10% or less by weight of the latter as specified by customers.

Ribbed Smoked Sheets
Ribbed Smoke Sheets rubber are commonly known as RSS. It is made from coagulated latex sheet. The grades of RSS are RSS1 to RSS5 according to elasticity, colour and purity per International IRQPC Standards as recorded in the “Green Book”. These grades are determined and classified through visual examination by experienced sorters and inspectors.

NR Latex
Concentrate
NR Latex Concentrate is processed from field latex using the centrifuge method. It contains 60% of Dry Rubber Content (DRC).
Types of NR Latex Concentrates are differentiated by varying the amount used of ammonia used such as High Ammonia (HA) and Low Ammonia (LA/LATZ). NR Latex Concentrate are marketed under strict technical specification, based on dry rubber content, non-rubber solid, alkalinity, mechanical stability and other parameters relating to ISO2504 specification.
